Our Focus

The Thoracic Immunobiology Laboratory at Washington University in St Louis is an NIH-funded laboratory run by three faculty members from the departments of surgery and pathology & immunology (Andrew Gelman, PhD; Daniel Kreisel, MD, PhD; and Alexander Sasha Krupnick, MD). In existence since 2005, the laboratory studies multiple aspects of thoracic immunology ranging from the alloimmune response after lung transplantation to pulmonary innate immunity and tumor immunology. As the principal investigators belong to both the departments of surgery and immunology, the laboratory performs basic scientific investigations as well as translational studies directly related to patient care.
